(Sigh) What Might Have Been...

This evening I was all set to try out the new food cart situated outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. I hear this fellow does a mean pulled pork sandwich and the rolls are fresh from the Calabria Bakery on Commerical Drive. My friend and I rushed Downtown after work to enjoy this street fare food before heading into the Art Gallery to enjoy the current exhibit of 'The Modern Woman' - drawings by Degas
Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and other masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay, Paris. The evening seemed like a perfect marriage of street culture and high culture all rolled together. But, sadly, it wasn't meant to be. Oh sure we got into the art gallery (and enjoyed the wonderful drawings), but unfortunately the street food vendor was closed. When we arrived at his little trailer, the sign read "back for lunch tomorrow at 11:15 a.m.".

Instead we went for a quick panini sandwich at Cafe Crepe on Granville Street, washed down with a nice glass of merlot.

All's well that ends well.
