I'm sad to say that the Little Mexico Cantina is gone. Our Friday nights will never be the same. When we were at the restaurant last week for our usual Friday night dinner (as you'll know if you've been following this blog), we were informed the owners had sold the restaurant and would be closed before the weekend was over. Very sad news indeed.
Tonight we had to find a replacement - which certainly won't be easy. We've decided to take turns each Friday picking a new restaurant close to home and hopefully finding something we like enough to become our regular spot. Tonight we were at Browns Social House on Steveston Highway. Quite spookily, I used to order the #14 at Little Mexico Cantina - and what did I order tonight - a dish actually called "#28" Dragon Bowl. Yet no other dish on the menu had a number associated with it (very weird). Although I enjoyed it enough, we're still mourning the loss of Little Mexico Cantina. Rightly or wrongly I ordered a lime margarita on the rocks with salt around the rim to see if it could even come close to the margarita perfection at LMC. Sadly, it didn't. There are some things that are just irreplacable.
